Christmas is fun and all that but I believe there are some downsides to it (very few, so you can all relax. I’m no Christmas hater). Because with Christmas comes crazy, awful and horrible Christmas shopping. Dreadful isn’t it, well I for one feel that way. I always have such troubles figuring out what to buy for everyone. It’s so difficult and there’s really no perfect answer. Well you could ask them what they want, but where’s the fun in that? Then you don’t get to see their faces light up with dead excitement, their eyes sparkling and that little smirk on their lips giving them away. And you can sit next to them being just a little bit too satisfied with yourself (or is that just me?).
People often say you should give something you yourself would’ve appreciated but I honestly don’t think my brother could enjoy a Le Creuset French oven as much as I would. Really. And if he and not I were to get one, I think I’d drop dead (or at least cry until someone bought me one).
But Christmas isn’t just about presents and material things. It’s about appreciating each other and how lucky we are to be abel to celebrate this time of the year together. At least that’s what I’ll try to make my family believe when I give them drawings instead of expensive cooking utensils.
